In a four-batter span on June 11 at Fenway Adidas Authentic Tyler Bozak Youth Jersey Park, before a Sunday Night Baseball national TV audience, Xander Bogaerts made three plays that could have won him a starring role in Tom Emanski's next infomercial. First, Bogaerts ranged to his left, slid to stop a hard grounder and bounced a throw to first base. Then, the Boston Red Sox shortstop drifted to his right, played a chopper in the hole on the long hop http://www.authentictorontomapleleafs.com/authentic-tyler-bozak-jersey and fired a strike to first. And finally, he made a full-extension dive to gobble up a grounder up the middle and threw out a slow runner at first. Emanski, the eminent youth baseball coach who stressed the fundamentals of defense in his series of often-advertised instructional videos in the 1990s, couldn't have taught it better. Yet after that game, in which Bogaerts also sailed a high throw to first base on a routine play, he still ranked among the worst defensive shortstops in baseball according to advanced metrics. The 24-year-old grades at 0.6 runs below league average in ultimate zone rating, as calculated by Fangraphs. Defensive runs saved, a measurement developed by Baseball Info Solutions, paints an even harsher picture. Bogaerts rates six runs worse than average, 23rd among 24 qualified shortstops. Only the St. Louis Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz is worse. The Linus Ullmark Womens Jersey numbers seem incongruous with the old-fashioned eye test. Scouts who watch Bogaerts often concur that he's hardly the best defensive shortstop in the majors, but he's far from one of the worst. He also appears to have improved in the past few years, not regressed, as some metrics indicate. And the Red Sox are comfortable enough with Bogaerts' defense that they kept him at shortstop even after calling up Deven Marrero from Triple-A Pawtucket last month. Despite being drafted as a shortstop, the slick-fielding Marrero has been used at third base in place of injured and ineffective Pablo Sandoval. "All I can go by is what my eyes tell me, and I think [Bogaerts] has been very strong," Red Sox manager John Farrell says. "For me, Bogey has done a heck of a job. He's durable. You can count on him. He's a reliable shortstop and an offensive one at the same time. I don't know the factors that go into defensive http://www.officialbuffalosabres.com/Adidas-Linus-Ullmark-Jersey metrics or all the UZR ratings. Sometimes those are alignment-dependent." Indeed, defensive metrics still don't measure everything about a player's proficiency at a position. Plays that occur when a team is aligned in a shift, for instance, don't factor into defensive runs saved. But DRS and other metrics have evolved into a much more reliable evaluation of performance. When it comes to Bogaerts, though, even the stats community acknowledges some disparity between watching him play shortstop and analyzing the numbers. "He definitely looks athletic, and he obviously is athletic," says Scott Spratt, a senior analyst for Baseball Info Solutions. "So, I think the numbers don't quite match up with the expectations when you watch him." A closer look at Bogaerts' defense might reveal a few reasons for that. WHEN BOGAERTS WAS coming up in the minors, and even after he made his major league debut in 2013, scouts wondered if he would remain at shortstop. At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, he was already big for the position -- and he was seemingly still growing. But as a young player in Aruba, Bogaerts' baseball idol was Derek Jeter, another tall shortstop. Bogaerts patterned his game after Jeter's, right down to the opposite-field approach Authentic Sam Gagner Womens Jersey at the plate. For Bogaerts, shortstop was less a position than an identity. So, when the Red Sox re-signed shortstop Stephen Drew and moved Bogaerts to third base midway through the 2014 season, it was a disappointment. It also caused Bogaerts to redouble his commitment to becoming a better shortstop. He took seriously infield coach Brian Butterfield's challenge to improve his footwork and first-step quickness. He also realized the importance of studying scouting reports on opposing hitters and understanding how Red Sox pitchers were attacking them to best position himself. When the Red Sox moved Bogaerts back to shortstop in 2015, he demonstrated an improvement that was reflected in the metrics. By defensive runs saved, he was only one run worse than average in 1,360 innings compared to nine runs below average in 880 innings in 2014. Moreover, Bogaerts' ultimate zone rating was one run above average compared to 2.7 runs below average in 2014. "He has made a quantum leap from 2014 to now," Butterfield says. Statistically, though, Bogaerts has taken a step back in the past two years. Last season, he was 10 runs http://www.officialcolumbusbluejackets.com/Adidas-Sam-Gagner-Jersey worse than average in defensive runs saved and 2.9 runs below average in ultimate zone rating. In particular, Spratt notes that the metrics show Bogaerts has had more difficulty with balls hit to his right, in the hole between shortstop and third base. After making three plays above the league average on balls to his right in 2015, he made 12 fewer than average last season and eight fewer than average so far this year. By comparison, Bogaerts has been slightly above the league average on balls hit directly at him or up the middle to his left. "What that sometimes can indicate, especially given how much better he's been on the straight-on balls and balls to his left, it could be arm-strength-related," Spratt says. "Another explanation is perhaps he's suboptimally positioning himself over towards second base and that's letting more balls get through [in the hole]. I don't know whether or not that's the case. We don't really have enough information with what we track to really figure that out easily."

The Washington Redskins Donnel Pumphrey Womens Jerseymay not know how good they have it. As the team attempts to lock up quarterback Kirk Cousins to a long-term deal, the rhetoric emanating from the NFC East franchise suggests a belief that their signal-caller is merely an above-average passer. The numbers say that's selling him short. "Kirk has proven he's in the top 15 quarterbacks," Doug Williams, now the Redskins' senior vice president http://www.philadelphiaeaglesauthorizedstore.com/donnel-pumphrey-jersey-elite of player personnel, said recently. The comment wasn't meant as a slight (and may have been a negotiating tactic), as Williams has indicated that he certainly wants to lock Cousins up to a new deal. Former general manager Scot McCloughan indicated in May that he felt Cousins had reached his ceiling and that the quarterback needed to be surrounded by other talent. Though McCloughan is now out of the picture, his sentiment appears to be a popular perception of Cousins -- a solid but unremarkable quarterback. The advanced metrics paint a different picture, one of an upper-tier passer who probably deserves the higher compensation he seeks Despite a two-interception performance in a Week 17 loss to the New York Giants that cost the Redskins a playoff berth -- more evidence for Cousins' detractors that he's prone to the late pick -- he finished the 2016 season with Authentic Demar Dotson Youth Jersey a Total QBR of 71.7, sixth best in the league. It was not a fluke: He finished in the exact same position the year before. Over the course of 2015 and 2016 combined, QBR ranked him fourth, behind only Dak Prescott (in a one-year sample), Tom Brady and Matt Ryan. To repeat: A two-year sample and Cousins was safely in the company of Brady, Ryan and arguably the best rookie quarterback season in history. People get paid for less. Though there are some instances when analytics reveal hidden talents, the reality is that much of Cousins' abilities have been viewable in plain sight: He was the leader of the offense that recorded the second-most passing yards in 2016 while throwing for the third-most yards per attempt (8.1) among quarterbacks. Total QBR is not the only advanced metric indicating that Cousins is better than the level Williams referenced. In Football Outsiders' DVOA, Cousins ranked sixth and fifth, respectively, among quarterbacks in 2015 and 2016. He finished eighth and fourth, respectively, in those two years in Pro Football Reference's adjusted http://www.tampabaybuccaneersauthorizedstore.com/demar-dotson-jersey-elite net yards per attempt as well. Certainly, there were a couple of specific areas in which Cousins excelled, as would likely be the case for any quarterback to rank so highly in QBR. Most notably, the Redskins quarterback leaned more heavily on, and had more success with, the deep ball in 2016. Though he finished fourth in raw QBR (which does not adjust for quality of opponent) on passes that traveled 21 or more yards in the air in 2016, he did so on the second-most attempts (69) and therefore contributed more expected points (24.55) on those types of passes than any other quarterback in the league. Ben Roethlisberger ranked second in the category, finishing with 20.57 expected points added on those throws. While QBR does try to isolate the quarterback's impact on each play, it is worth noting that part of the reason Cousins had the opportunity to throw that many passes downfield is because Brian Winters Womens Jersey he had DeSean Jackson on his team. Jackson had the second-most targets (30) and receptions (14) on passes that traveled 21-plus yards in the air last year and ranked third in air yards per target. Cousins will not have the benefit of throwing to Jackson again this season, as the receiver bolted in free agency for Tampa Bay, though Terrelle Pryor Sr. -- 10th in air yards per target last year with far inferior quarterbacks throwing to him -- was signed in his stead. Additionally, Cousins was at his best, relative to other quarterbacks, when not under pressure, leading the league in 2015 and finishing fourth in 2016 in raw QBR when not under duress. Of course, the flip side of Cousins' success when not under pressure is that he was particularly poor with it. He ranked 30th and 21st in raw QBR when under pressure in 2015 and 2016, respectively, and 17th and 16th when facing five or more pass-rushers in the same time period. Interestingly, opponents did not overly capitalize on this relative weakness, as Cousins was blitzed on only 24.6 percent of dropbacks (16th most) in 2016. Nonetheless, if the Redskins are hoping to pay Cousins at the rate of a top-15 quarterback, they are probably being optimistic given the numbers the former fourth-round quarterback has put up over the past two seasons. In March, ESPN reported what is still http://www.jetsshopnfl.com/brian-winters-jersey_c-395.html the latest known offer from the team to the quarterback -- a $20 million per year deal that spanned five years with "low" guarantees. (The MMQB later added that the offer was actually an extension on top of the 2017 franchise tag). Cousins' camp sought a deal starting at his 2017 franchise tag salary of close to $24 million. A contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $20 million would slot him below 13 quarterbacks in the NFL, per OverTheCap.com. Even if Cousins were only the 14th-best passer in the league, that AAV would be well below market value for him given that all 12 of the 13 quarterbacks on that list -- Derek Carr excluded -- signed their deals in earlier years, when the salary cap was lower. It's tempting to compare Cousins' situation to Carr's given that the Raiders quarterback recently signed a five-year extension that ESPN reported included $125 million in new money. But frankly, Cousins holds much more leverage than Carr had given that he's already been hit with the franchise tag twice. The Redskins quarterback could look to parlay that leverage into more than the $40 million fully guaranteed that Carr received at signing.

The Dallas Stars have #46 Cory Harkey Youth Jersey acquired defenseman Marc Methot from the Vegas Golden Knights. In exchange for Methot, selected by Vegas from the Ottawa Senators in last week's expansion draft, the Golden Knights are getting a 2020 second-round draft selection and goaltender Dylan Ferguson, who was taken by Dallas in the seventh round of last weekend's draft. Methot, who turned 32 last week, was with the Senators for the past five seasons, spending much of that time alongside Erik Karlsson on the team's top defensive pairing. Methot has two years left on his contract at a salary-cap http://www.authenticramsofficialshop.com/Nike-Cory-Harkey-Jersey.html hit of $4.9 million. He has 120 points in 579 games over 11 seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Senators. Karlsson won a Norris Trophy and was a finalist two more times playing alongside Methot, who could be playing alongside John Klingberg in Dallas. "He has proven to be a capable and steady defenseman that can play well with an offensive-minded partner, and he will add a tremendous amount of leadership and experience to our blue line," Stars general manager Jim Nill said. Methot spent the first six seasons of his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who drafted him in the sixth round in 2003. Ottawa acquired him in a 2012 trade for Nick Foligno. Methot has just 21 goals and 99 assists in his 11 NHL seasons, but is a +44 for his career. The Stars took Ferguson in the seventh round, 194th Authentic #46 Cory Harkey Womens Jersey overall, in the draft last weekend. The 18-year-old played 31 games last season with the Western Hockey League's Kamloops Blazers, going 16-10-2 with a 2.74 goals-against average and .922 save percentage. On Saturday, NHL teams will have the ability to retool and revamp their rosters through free agency. This always has some level of intrigue, as players can pick their teams and teams try to fit them under the $75 million salary cap. Below we answer some of the major questions about free agency and where some players could end up. Can you trust Alexander Radulov with a long-term deal? The Montreal Canadiens' 30-year-old winger resurrected his reputation to a degree last season, ranking second on the team with 54 points. Both he and the Habs went to great lengths to talk about how he had matured since his previous two stints in the NHL, which ended with him leaving for the http://www.authenticramsofficialshop.com/Nike-Cory-Harkey-Jersey.html KHL unceremoniously. Radulov was on a one-year, $5.75 million deal, so in some respects, it was a "show-me" contract to prove he was worth a better deal this offseason. But should one strong season lead to a longer-term deal that Radulov reportedly wants? Some around hockey still aren't sold on the Russian winger. "He had his back against the wall and performed really well, and now you're going to trust this guy?" said a former Western Conference team executive. As a player agent said, "I think his personality issues are well-known around the league." That being said, scoring is always needed, and Radulov can help put the puck in the net. "He's a good player," said an NHL coach. "He might be the best free agent out there right now." Did Kevin Shattenkirk's play in Washington hurt his value? At the trade deadline, the Washington Capitals paid a large price to get Shattenkirk from the St. Louis Blues, then saw the offensive defenseman struggle defensively. There's a thought that his poor play could hurt the 28-year-old Shattenkirk, who is coming off a career-high 56 points, in free agency. "I think teams, even before he got traded, had a little bit of trepidation, but I think it's a little bit Zach Cunningham Womens Jersey more now from when he was in Washington," a team scout said. "I don't know if he was getting more minutes or worse matchups, but he got exposed a little bit, at times -- especially defensively." Still, some say a weak free-agent class of defensemen should push up Shattenkirk's overall value, no matter how he performed with the Caps. And the Rangers' need of puck-moving defensemen makes New York his likeliest landing spot, an opinion echoed by a current Eastern Conference executive. As a former Eastern Conference executive added, "If he's the best player out there, he's the best player out there, and someone is going to spend a premium on him."Last season was tough for Thornton. He notched 50 points -- his worst full-season total since his second year in the league -- and suffered torn knee ligaments at the end of the campaign. Despite these issues, he still is viewed as a highly http://www.houstontexansjerseystore.com/Zach_Cunningham_Jersey_Cheapcoveted asset and someone who can play an effective role on a team. "Thornton, with injuries and all that, if he's 80 percent of Joe Thornton, he is probably 2,000 percent [better than] any team's second-line center, other than a couple of places," the Eastern Conference executive said. "I don't know who wouldn't want Joe Thornton." Marleau, who scored 27 goals last season, still is seen as a guy who can add offense. "I don't know who wouldn't want Patrick Marleau," the executive added. But at this stage of their careers -- both will turn 38 before the season -- do they think the Sharks are the best option to help them win a Stanley Cup? Also, should the Sharks commit term to these longtime faces of the franchise, knowing their numbers likely will drop over the length of their contracts? Such questions could lead to big changes in San Jose, unless common ground is found.

Any conversation about the #21 Alterraun Womens Jersey 2017 Major League Baseball season has to pay homage to the emergence of bicoastal sensations Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger, the suddenly juggernaut-ish National League West, the Chicago Cubs' surprising struggles and the Houston Astros' breakthrough as a 100-win powerhouse. Any discussion about the best player in the game begins and ends in the same place it has since 2012 -- with the patch of grass encompassing center field at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Mike Trout rounds out this group only because the names are listed in inverse order of preference. Which http://www.authenticbuccaneersofficial.com/Nike-Alterraun-Verner-Jersey.html players assume the nine spots behind Trout on my top-10 best player list? The criteria are obviously subjective. Miguel Cabrera has the track record to merit inclusion, but he appears to be showing signs of slippage at age 34. Manny Machado has had a difficult first half, but he's still a three-time All-Star with three top-10 MVP finishes to his credit at age 24. It won't surprise anyone if he goes on a mega-tear after the break. And how can a player be penalized for injury? Is it Freddie Freeman's fault that he was plunked by a 94 mph fastball from Aaron Loup in May? Not from this vantage point. I gave some thought to Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, Mookie Betts, Joey Votto, Josh Donaldson, Francisco Jose Barea #11 Womens jersey Lindor, Buster Posey and Machado before opting for the 10 players below. Sacrilegious as it might seem, I even considered Craig Kimbrel and his 0.48 WHIP before deciding it would take more than 60 dominant innings to make the cut. 10. Freddie Freeman, 1B, Atlanta Braves: After posting career-best numbers in 2016, Freeman was motoring along with a 210 OPS+ this season when he went down with a fractured wrist. He has proved to be a fast healer, and his willingness to move across the diamond upon his return from the disabled list and play third base to http://www.officialmavericksproshop.com/authentic-11-jose-barea-jersey.html accommodate Matt Adams reflects a team-first mindset. Listen to Freeman's teammates gush about the attributes he brings to the franchise, and it tells you all you need to know about his impact. Former Braves general manager Frank Wren keeps looking better for that eight-year, $135 million investment in Freeman in 2014. 9. Nolan Arenado, 3B, Colorado Rockies: Feel free to parse the career home-road splits (a .939 OPS at Coors Field compared to .775 everywhere else) or the .333 on-base percentage. Arenado is in a league of his own defensively at third base, and he brings a constant energy to the ballpark. I recently asked Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon about the lack of national attention Arenado has received, and all Blackmon wanted to talk about was what an injustice it was that Arenado finished fifth in the National League MVP balloting last season. Jose Altuve, 2B, Houston Travis Shaw #47 Authentic jersey Astros: It's long past time to stop viewing Altuve as a diminutive overachiever and start regarding him for what he is: a monster producer and a force of nature in the middle of the infield and at the plate. Since the start of 2014, Altuve ranks fourth in the majors in WAR behind Trout, Donaldson and Paul Goldschmidt. Altuve's longer record of achievement gives him a slight leg up on his teammate and double-play partner, Correa, who is on the fast track to elite status at age 22. Chris Sale, LHP, Boston Red Sox: Sale has made the transition from an afterthought team in Chicago to a contender in Boston look as easy as, well, changing Sox. That 155-21 strikeout-to-walk ratio is ridiculous enough without the historical comparisons that Sale is eliciting. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he recently joined Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson as the third pitcher since 1893 to record 10 double-digit strikeout outings within his first 15 starts in a season. Max Scherzer, RHP, Washington Nationals: Scherzer's numbers are a testament to his excellence. But he also approaches the game with an old-school fervor that's refreshing in an age of five-and-fly for starters. He leads the majors with six starts of eight innings http://www.officialauthenticredsox.com/authentic-travis-shaw-jersey.html or longer, and as the John Smoltzes and Ron Darlings consistently observe from upstairs in the broadcast booth, he cranks up the intensity in the late innings like a man who smells the finish line. Scherzer wins some serious Jack Morris points for treating each hit as a personal affront, wearing short sleeves in 40 degree weather, and wanting to go the distance every time out. Kris Bryant, 3B, Chicago Cubs: The Cubs have been a disappointment, but Bryant continues to build on a résumé that has produced a Rookie of the Year and MVP award at age 25. The power is a given, and this year Bryant leads the majors in walks and ranks 11th overall with an on-base percentage that's a tick under .400. Bryant might be a star, but he's always quick to say "yes" when manager Joe Maddon asks him to play first base, the outfield or anywhere else that benefits the team. Bryant has shown he can handle the expectations and demands of being the leading man for one of baseball's most thoroughly scrutinized teams.

Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman Men's Nike Los Angeles Chargers #21 LaDainian Tomlinson Elite Black Pro Line Gold Collection NFL Jersey said the duo of Tevin Coleman and himself constitute the best one-two tandem in the league after combining for almost 1,600 yards rushing in 2016. But the division now boasts some new talented backs, including one-time NFL MVP Adrian Peterson now in New Orleans and rookie Christian McCaffrey in Carolina. Which one-two combo http://www.officialnikechargershop.com/ladainian-tomlinson-jersey-for-sale-c-46.html will gain the most rushing yards by season's end? David Newton, Carolina Panthers reporter: It’s hard to pick against Freeman and Coleman, who helped the Falcons finish fifth in the NFL with 120.5 yards rushing a game last season. But I will. While the Panthers are more committed than ever to running the ball, they are striving to lessen Cam Newton's load as a rusher. He always will be a threat to run, however, and teams will have to respect that. With McCaffrey and Jonathan Stewart, Carolina could resurrect the "Double Marshall Newhouse Womens Jersey Trouble" days of Stewart and DeAngelo Williams. Remember, in 2009 they became the first set of NFL backs on the same team to rush for more than 1,100 yards apiece. The Panthers weren’t that far behind the Falcons a year ago, ranking 10th in the league with 113.4 rushing yards a game. Their rushers accomplished this behind an offensive line that was decimated with injuries. With improvements to the line and the addition of McCaffrey, this Carolina unit has a good chance to return to its 2015 form, when it finished second in the NFL with 142.6 yards a game. If you http://www.authenticnikegiantshop.com/Marshall-Newhouse-Jersey noticed, I didn’t mention New Orleans at all in this response. I just can’t see the Saints becoming a running team with Drew Brees at quarterback. Plus, they’ll be playing catch up a lot. Jenna Laine, Tampa Bay Buccaneers reporter: As far as the division goes, it's probably correct from a pure rushing standpoint to think the Falcons will lead the way, although I wouldn’t sleep on Mark Ingram and Peterson. Doug Martin's three-game suspension to start the season will hurt his and Jacquizz Rodgers' chances in Tampa. In Carolina, I’d expect they’ll use McCaffrey as more than just a traditional back -- he should catch a lot of passes because he works so well in space. Although McCaffrey and Stewart may produce more total yards from scrimmage, I think Freeman and Coleman have the best shot at topping the division in terms of pure rushing yards. Mike Triplett, New Orleans Saints reporter: The better barometer would probably be total yards from scrimmage, since the Saints and Falcons are both so good at using their running backs in the passing game, while Carolina appears set to copy that model this season. Either way, though, I’ll give the slight edge to Freeman and Coleman. We have seen how dynamic that Authentic Tyler Boyd Youth Jersey duo has been during the last two years -- they are one of the biggest reasons Atlanta made it to the Super Bowl. And they’re still just 25 and 24 years old, which is a frightening thought for the rest of the division. Aaron Rodgers has changed his diet to maximize his longevity, and Packers coach Mike McCarthy believes his quarterback can play into his 40s. But how long can the 33-year-old maintain the level he was at last season, when he contended for another MVP award? ESPN's NFC North reporters weigh in. Jeff Dickerson, ESPN’s Chicago Bears reporter: Six or seven years at least. Rodgers turns 34 next season, but remember, he spent his first three years behind Brett Favre. Rodgers is technically entering his 13th NFL season, but he has fewer miles on his body. Last year, Rodgers passed for 4,428 yards, 40 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in the regular season. In the playoffs, Rodgers threw nine touchdown passes. Translation: There has been zero drop-off in his performance. As long as Green Bay’s pass-protection holds up, Rodgers can http://www.bengalsshopfootball.com/bengals+tyler+boyd+jerseyplay at an elite level well into his 40s -- if he wants to stick around that long. Ben Goessling, ESPN’s Minnesota Vikings reporter: Rodgers has talked about Tom Brady as a role model for how to take care of himself in his mid-to-late 30s, and he has emulated some of Brady's dietary habits now that he's closer to 35 than to 30. If he's able to avoid major injuries, there's no reason to think he can't play at the same level at age 38 or 39 that Brady has. Rodgers' mobility is such a big part of his game that it will be interesting to see how he adapts if and when he's not able to extend plays and outrun defenders the way he does now. But his arm strength and intellect might be the best of any quarterback in the game, and those qualities will serve Rodgers well into his late 30s. If he chooses to follow Brady's path, he can. Now, the question is, while Brady has five rings, can Rodgers get more than one?

On Saturday, NHL teams will have the ability Mark McGwire Womens jersey to retool and revamp their rosters through free agency. This always has some level of intrigue, as players can pick their teams and teams try to fit them under the $75 million salary cap. Below we answer some of the major questions going into free agency and about where some players could end up. Can you trust Alexander Radulov with a long-term deal? Will Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau return to San Jose? Last season was tough http://www.authentictampabayrays.com/Corey-Dickerson-Jersey for Thornton. He notched 50 points -- his worst full-season total since his second year in the league -- and suffered torn knee ligaments at the end of the campaign. Such questions could lead to big changes in San Jose, unless common ground is found. Who cashes in with restricted free agency? The primary focus is mostly on the Edmonton Oilers' 21-year-old forward Leon Draisaitl, who notched 77 points in the last season of his entry-level deal. "They're going to give him a huge raise, and they're going to keep him long term," the coach said. "They're going to try to take him past free agency." The secondary focus goes to the Nashville Predators and Ryan Johansen and Viktor Arvidsson. Both players will be rewarded with bigger deals for helping the Predators to the Stanley Cup Final. Johansen's previous salary cap hit was $4 million, and Arvidsson, who scored 31 goals last season, was at $631,667. The Predators often have been good at signing players to commonsense, long-term contracts, and http://www.authenticchicagowhitesox.com/Jose-Quintana-Jersey general manager David Poile will try to get both into a structure that will enable the team to stay competitive. Still, both will want large raises, and this could alter Nashville's finances. "Johansen fills a long-term need for Nashville and is coming off a high number, so he will get his," said the Eastern Conference executive. "He played better late in the season and playoffs, so it's all set up for him. Arvidsson has established a top-six profile. Maybe he doesn't get a long-term deal but [last season was] timely for him, so he gets a good deal and stays put as part of their core."

Kris Bryant: “In the Kyle Okposo Authentic Jersey [batting] cage, he was like, ‘I’m going to hit a homer first pitch.’ Calling his shot, basically. It wasn’t a first pitch, but it was still pretty impressive.” There's even visual proof of the called shot, if you know who to ask. Every morning, first base coach Brandon Hyde texts the lineup to the entire team, and according to catcher Miguel Montero, Rizzo quickly texted back to the group, "1-0 guys," when http://www.officialbuffalosabres.com/Adidas-Kyle-Okposo-Jersey he saw he was leading off. Montero: "I told him I'm going to take a picture of that text because no one will believe me. He said it, and then he did it." Rizzo’s blast paved the way for a much-needed offensive explosion. The Cubs won 14-3 -- but after that first game, Maddon told people to temper their expectations. Little did he know Rizzo’s game-opening magic was just getting started. Maddon: “We did a nice job tonight. Rizzo did a nice job of kick-starting us.” He would continue to be that engine while keeping it loose in the clubhouse. Game 2 of the Rizzo leadoff experience featured a home run on the first pitch … and Rizzo announcing his place in history. Rizzo: “I’m statistically the greatest leadoff Ryan Murray Youth Jersey hitter of all time, to lead a game off. I’d like to retire right there.” Maddon: “It’s kind of what I thought would happen with [Kyle] Schwarber [leading off]. Just take that name and cross it out and put Rizzo. It’s the same thing.” In Game 3 of his leadoff experience, Rizzo magic hit another gear -- only to have it taken away. Rizzo rounded the bases after what appeared to be his third straight home run to start a game, this time in Pittsburgh, only to see the umpires rule after the fact that the ball went foul. Rizzo was furious. Maddon got kicked out. But the first at-bat streak didn’t completely die. Rizzo walked. Closer Wade Davis: “Good thing he can walk because he’s not going to be beating out any infield singles.” No, Rizzo probably isn’t going to sit down to discuss the finer points of legging out a single or swiping a bag with Billy Hamilton or Trea Turner at the next leadoff hitter http://www.officialcolumbusbluejackets.com/Adidas-Ryan-Murray-Jersey convention. But when he opened his next game with a single, there was no denying that the streak was gaining steam. Two home runs, a walk and a single. Teammates were perking up. Reliever Pedro Strop: “I say leave him, don’t touch him, leave him there. ... He’s so good. He can take a pitch or drive it out. He can do it all.” There was no turning back now. Rizzo’s smile after each first plate appearance told it all. He was loving it -- and so were his teammates. When he doubled on the first pitch he saw in Game 5, the dugout went nuts. Catching coach Mike Borzello: “He asked if I had seen anything like this and I said, ‘Maybe Brady Anderson.’ I remember he was the first guy we would throw first pitch spin [off-speed] to, instead of throwing just a fastball. “Rizzo is the type of guy that steps up for all types of spots he’s put in and I thought, ‘Eh, that’s a pretty good idea.’” More than Joe Pavelski Authentic Jersey just a “good idea,” Rizzo’s first at-bat was becoming a must-watch event by the time the leadoff show hit Wrigley Field. He was 5-for-5 starting off games on the road, but now a new wrinkle emerged. Would having to play in the field before his first at-bat slow Chicago’s new No. 1 hitter? Not a chance. Rizzo pulled a fast one on the San Diego Padres, bunting for a hit. The next night, he went back to the power stroke with another leadoff home run, putting an exclamation mark on what would end as a seven-game streak of getting on base to start the game -- one that featured three leadoff long balls, and another denied only by replay. Borzello: “I don’t think anywhere in the order would alter Rizzo’s at-bat. An AB is an AB with him. Most players when they’re shifted in the order they feel like there’s different responsibilities depending on where they’re hitting. Not Rizzo.” Marlins third-base coach Fredi Gonazalez: “I’m turning. I’m changing my mind. Why not? He’s got a great on-base percentage. And he’s hot there.” But Rizzo’s leadoff flame didn’t stay hot much longer. After http://www.officialsanjosesharks.com/Adidas-Joe-Pavelski-Jersey a four-game stretch without reaching base to start things off, Rizzo passed the torch to another non-typical leadoff hitter in Willson Contreras on Monday night in Washington. And what did Contreras do in his first at-bat in the spot? He hit a home run, of course. But if the catcher falters in the role, No. 44 is only a spot away from again attempting to channel the feel-good first at-bats of the once-greatest leadoff hitter who ever lived. "He'll be back," Maddon smiled and said when asked of Rizzo's future at the top of the order.

Today’s question: Expectations and excitement Breno Giacomini Authentic Jersey surrounding the New England Patriots' 2017 season are as high as they’ve ever been during Bill Belichick’s 18-year coaching tenure. Tom Brady, who turns 40 on Aug. 3, is still playing at a high level. Top backup Jimmy Garoppolo, who has flashed signs of potentially being a franchise quarterback, is scheduled for unrestricted free agency. What should the Patriots do? Rich Cimini, New York Jets reporter: This is the most fascinating personnel decision looming in the NFL. This is a tough one, but sometimes the tough ones work themselves out organically. Personally, I’d move on from Brady if he suffers a serious injury or experiences a decline in his play. After all, he will be 40 years old in August. In that http://www.jetsshopnfl.com/breno-giacomini-jersey_c-396.html case, I’d hand the 2018 job to Garoppolo and sign him to a new contract. If Brady maintains his current level of play … wow, that’s a tough one. The popular school of thought is to use the franchise tag on Garoppolo for 2018, but I don’t think it’s fiscally prudent to pay $21 million (probably more) for a backup. Besides, it’s not the Patriot way. Heck, they don’t like to pay anyone that much, let alone a backup with limited experience. I’d try to sign Garoppolo to a two-year deal, pushing a big guarantee into 2019 and promising him he’ll be the starter by Authentic Davonte Lambert Womens Jersey then. It’s not ideal for any of the sides, but it’s the best way to stabilize the position for the long term. Some teams would let Brady play until he says “Uncle,” but the Patriots are cold and ruthless when it comes to personnel decisions, and I can’t see them letting sentimentality get in the way -- not even for Brady. James Walker, Miami Dolphins reporter: It seems to me the Patriots have made their decision to let Garoppolo walk in 2018. They’ve had numerous offseasons -- including this year -- to trade Garoppolo while his value was high, and the Patriots determined it was best to keep the quarterback insurance. That’s fine. What would not be wise is for New England to use the one-year franchise tag, reportedly worth $25 million, to keep him next year as a backup. That would be terribly shortsighted and un-Patriot like. The only way I see http://www.tampabaybuccaneersauthorizedstore.com/davonte-lambert-jersey-elite Garoppolo in a Patriots uniform next year is if Brady suffers a season-ending or career-threatening injury this season. Otherwise, they got four years out of Garoppolo as a second-round pick. Let someone else pay huge money for him next season. Mike Rodak, Buffalo Bills reporter: This is, as owner Robert Kraft likes to say, a "high class" problem for the Patriots. Whether New England trades Garoppolo or keeps him around, I don't think the team can go wrong. The Bills would sure like to have Garoppolo, who was available in the second round of the 2014 draft when they instead chose offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio (who was released in May) at No. 44 overall. With quarterback-needy teams such as Buffalo Derek Barnett Authentic Jersey ready to pounce if Garoppolo hits the open market, I don't see the Patriots letting Garoppolo walk as a free agent for nothing. I think the most logical solution is to assign Garoppolo the franchise tag. If a team wants to trade for him, I am sure the Patriots will listen to any offers. If New England holds onto him, they could attempt to renegotiate his deal to smooth out his sizable salary-cap hit over multiple seasons. While the price tag is going to get significantly higher, I think it makes sense for the Patriots to hold serve with Garoppolo, particularly as Brady enters mostly uncharted territory as a 40-year-old starting quarterback. Today's question: Does the presence of Carson Wentz make the Philadelphia Eagles the best-positioned team in the division for the long term? Todd Archer, Dallas Cowboys reporter: This will surprise a lot of folks coming from the Cowboys reporter, but I’m going with Dallas and Dak Prescott instead. It’s not so much a knock on Wentz, either. It’s the state of the rosters for both second-year quarterbacks. Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles and LeGarrette Blount will be free agents after this year. So might four http://www.philadelphiaeaglesauthorizedstore.com/derek-barnett-jersey-elite other potential Philadelphia starters. That’s not a recipe for helping Wentz’s long-term success. Those players will help him right now, and I believe the NFL, more than ever, is a "right now" kind of league. But if we’re talking long term, you also have to factor in the age of left tackle Jason Peters. Now look at the Cowboys: They should have their three All-Pro linemen locked up this summer when Zack Martin joins Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick with megadeals. Ezekiel Elliott is signed through 2019 and won’t be going anywhere. Dez Bryant isn’t going anywhere. Terrance Williams re-signed on a four-year deal. Cole Beasley is signed for another two years. And apparently Jason Witten will play forever. To me, Prescott is lined up to be better for the long term.

“Everybody gives him a hard time #69 Cody Wichmann Womens Jersey about missing a little OTAs. Hell, I didn’t go to those things, so I’m the wrong person to be sympathetic for people who are giving him a hard time.” Beckham, 24, attended the Giants’ mandatory minicamp earlier this month. The team complimented his physical conditioning. Beckham is expected to report to training camp with the rest of his teammates on July 27. At his football camp http://www.authenticramsofficialshop.com/Nike-Cody-Wichmann-Jersey.html last weekend, Beckham said he’s never been more ready for a season. "I don't think so," he said at the Citi Odell Beckham Jr. Football ProCamp at Kean University, which attracted close to 600 campers on June 18. "I think this might be the most [I've been ready] in my lifetime. In every which way, I just feel it there. ... I've really been training and to have these next six weeks to get another opportunity to train. It's going to be great. "Just like you said -- mentally, physically, spiritually, everything. I don't think I've been as ready as I am now." Beckham has made three Pro Bowls in his first three professional seasons. He is tied for the most catches in the first three years of a career with 288. He’s the only player in history with at least 90 catches, 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. Strahan spent his entire 15-year career with the Giants. He set the single-season sack record with 22.5 during the 2001 season and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. Because, yeah, you could say Carr merely fell #69 Cody Wichmann Youth Jersey into the Raiders' lap when he slipped to them three picks later in that 2014 draft. Then again, some of the best draft moves are the ones that are not made. A year earlier, the Raiders were zeroing in on USC quarterback Matt Barkley early in the fourth round, where they held the No. 100 overall selection. Finally, as the script played over and over, again and again, the Raiders would find their franchise quarterback in the draft. It was an odyssey that would have made Homer blush. Consider: Since Rich Gannon literally broke his neck on Sept. 26, 2004 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 15 men had started under center for the Raiders, with nary a one tasting the success Gannon, the 2002 NFL MVP, had in Oakland. There was Kerry Collins, who went 7-21 from 2004-05, and Marques Tuiasosopo, who was 0-1 in 2005. Aaron Brooks was 0-8 in 2006 and Andrew Walter (2006 and 2008) and Josh McCown (2007) were both 2-7. Daunte Culpepper, who was supposed to tutor JaMarcus Russell, went 2-4 in 2007 and Russell, the biggest bust in NFL history as the No. 1 pick of the 2007 draft, went 7-18 from 2007-09. Bruce Gradkowski was 3-5 in 2009 and 2010, and Charlie Frye was 1-2 in 2009. At least Jason Campbell had a winning http://www.authenticramsofficialshop.com/Nike-Cody-Wichmann-Jersey.html record, going 11-7 in 2010 and 2011, before a headfirst slide that broke his collarbone ended his run, and Kyle Boller lost his lone start, in 2011. That ushered in the star-crossed eras of Carson Palmer (8-16 in 2011 and 2012) and Terrelle Pryor (3-7 in 2012 and 2013). Then came Matt Flynn, who was supposed to be the savior but went 0-1 in 2013, and Matt McGloin, who was 1-5 that same season. Barkley? The Philadelphia Eagles traded two picks in front of the Raiders to draft him and Oakland responded by trading back and taking Arkansas' Tyler Wilson at 112, and he never took a regular-season snap. Barkley never started a game in Philadelphia, spent time on the Arizona Cardinals' roster and started six games, going 1-5, for the Chicago Bears last season. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers this offseason. So as free agency in 2014 dawned, after a Raiders wish list of veterans went like this, (1) Matt Schaub, (2) Mark Sanchez, (3) Michael Vick, the Raiders picked up Schaub from the Texans in a trade and then-coach Dennis Allen immediately anointed Schaub the starter. A month later, Carr fell into their laps, and the future was realized with Oakland finally getting its franchise quarterback. "I'll tell you what, from J.J. Watt Authentic Jersey the outset when we drafted him, before he got here, we were extremely excited that he was still sitting there at 36," McKenzie said. "Let's put that out there right now. The rookie minicamp, I think my son could have figured that one out, 'Man, he can throw, daddy.' "It was easy to see early. We knew the type of person we were getting in the draft process. Put it together and it was pretty [clear] early. Very early." Carr essentially won the job with a standout preseason performance against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, and Schaub never started a game for Oakland. Rather, he has played for four teams in the past four seasons. And despite starting his career 0-10, Carr has owned the Raiders locker room from the day he walked in and settled the constant upheaval that wreaked havoc through the organization since Gannon called his last play. Carr's value to the team was painfully obvious last winter when he was lost with http://www.houstontexansjerseystore.com/Jj_Watt_Jersey_Cheapa broken right fibula in Week 16 and -- with McGloin and Connor Cook starting in Carr's place -- the Raiders fell in Denver and then in Houston in the team's first playoff appearance since Gannon helped lead Oakland to the Super Bowl after the 2002 season. Keep in mind, despite missing the regular-season finale, Carr finished tied for third in NFL MVP voting. He passed for 3,937 yards with 28 TD passes, six interceptions and set an NFL record with five winning touchdown passes in the fourth quarter or overtime last season. Oh, and he broke the pinkie finger on his passing hand in Week 12. The Raiders were outscored by a combined 62-20 after Carr went down with the broken leg.

On his first shot at the Hockey Hall #76 Donovan Smith Womens Jersey of Fame, Teemu Selanne has scored, not surprising for someone who tallied 684 NHL goals. The 46-year-old headlined the class announced Monday. Joining the 10-time All-Star in Toronto are Selanne's longtime teammate Paul Kariya, Dave Andreychuk, Mark Recchi, Danielle Goyette, and in the builders category Clare Drake and Jeremy Jacobs. Selanne, nicknamed the Finnish Flash, was http://www.authenticbuccaneersofficial.com/Nike-Donovan-Smith-Jersey.html the 10th overall pick of the Winnipeg Jets in the 1988 draft. In 1993, he won the Calder Trophy as the league's top rookie after he scored a league-leading 76 goals and added 56 assists. He holds NHL records for most goals and points by a rookie. Selanne never matched that goal total again, but he did lead the league in goals two more times. Selanne was a fan favorite of the Anaheim franchise, playing for the team from 1996-2001 and again from 2005 until his retirement in 2014. In 2006-07 at the age of 36, he led the Ducks in goals (48) and points (94) on the way to a Stanley Cup title. Anaheim retired his No. 8 in 2015. "I'm lucky to have played with great people wherever I went in hockey," Selanne said. "The game is a team effort and I have a long list of those who helped me." These days, Selanne owns a restaurant in Laguna Beach, California. He has two sons who play competitive hockey. Kariya, 42, played alongside Selanne for parts of six seasons with the Ducks, helping hockey grow in Southern California in the 1990s, and then another with Colorado. He is a seven-time All-Star whose career was cut short because Authentic Wesley Matthews #23 Womens jersey of concussions. In 15 seasons with the Mighty Ducks, Avalanche, Predators and Blues he scored 402 goals and had 989 points. "I didn't retire willingly," said Kariya, who won an Olympic gold medal with Canada at the 2002 Olympics. "I would've loved to have kept playing. If there was any way of waving a magic wand and getting the opportunity to live through my entire career, the good and the bad, I would do it again in a heartbeat." He won a gold medal with Canada in 2002 and was a two-time winner of the Lady Byng Trophy. "What a tremendous day for our franchise to have two players named 2017 Hockey Hall of Fame inductees!" Ducks http://www.officialmavericksproshop.com/authentic-23-wesley-matthews-jersey.html owners Henry and Susan Samueli said in a statement. "Both Teemu and Paul now rightfully take their place among legendary players in the history of the sport. The relationship Teemu has with our fans is unparalleled in professional sports. Paul was the first true face of our franchise and helped put the organization on the map. Congratulations to both!" Recchi, 49, was the only retired player with at least 500 goals and 1,500 points who was not in the Hall. This was his fourth attempt. He is also 12th all-time in scoring, and every other retired player from 1-28 on the list had already been inducted. "You can only do so much, and you've got to let your numbers and your play dictate where it gets you," Recchi Roger Clemens #21 Womens jersey said. "It was just something where you hope it's good enough at some point." He played 22 seasons for the Penguins, Flyers, Canadiens, Hurricanes, Thrashers, Lightning and Bruins. The seven-time All-Star won Stanley Cups with the Penguins (1991), Hurricanes (2006) and Bruins (2011). "It's an incredible feeling and the icing on the cake after 22 years of playing the game," Recchi said. Andreychuk, 53, played 23 seasons for the Sabres, Maple Leafs, Devils, Bruins, Avalanche and Lightning. He scored 30 or more goals nine times. At 40 in 2004, he finally won a Stanley Cup with the Lightning. He scored 21 goals and added 18 assists that year. The two-time All-Star was in his ninth year of eligibility for the Hall. "The years that I have waited make no difference to me," Andreychuk said. "When I started (in Buffalo) in '82, I got the privilege of watching Gilbert Perreault http://www.officialauthenticredsox.com/authentic-21-roger-clemens-jersey.html score 500 goals and to think that I went by him, it's mind-boggling." Goyette played internationally for Canada. She won gold medals in 2002 and 2006 and silver in 1998. She had 113 goals and 105 assists in 171 international games. Growing up in Quebec, she was asked why she played a men's sport and said, "When you love something that much, it doesn't matter what people say: You just do what you love." Drake, who has been called the "dean of coaching," was head coach of the University of Alberta for 28 years. He has the most victories of any Canadian college coach and has influenced the likes of Mike Babcock, Ken Hitchcock and Barry Trotz. He has received the Order of Hockey in Canada. Hitchcock said he was relieved Drake is being honored at age 88 and said of his mentor, "There's never been a person that's done more for hockey and more for coaches and more for his players than Clare." Babcock called Drake the John Wooden of Canadian hockey. "You're a great man, you did things right, treated people right, won championships and made an impact," Babcock said. "What more can you ask?"
